It started a long time ago, back when I was stocking the shelves of the local library. A book had come in by Stephen Shore. It was named ‘Uncommon Places’ and it was a great slab of a book. I’d never looked through anything other than a family album before, and perched on the edge of the shelving-trolley I flipped it open. And there and then I was transported to another continent. I’d never seen anything like it before. These photographs, ostensibly boring images of mundane places, had such a strange beauty to them. I need to know more. I started haunting the opening nights and exhibitions of a local upstart photography gallery named ‘Third Floor Gallery’. Next thing I was volunteering there. I saw so many different visions of the world through the eyes of so many photographers and man I was hooked.

I still can’t keep myself from buying photo books. I still can’t stop all these different perspectives from circling in my head, tugging me this way and that as I try to make my own sense of the world through a camera. Now and then I try to get my excitement down in words and pictures… see below for more.
